Peter Kiss Has Done It! SkyDive Complete
Coach Peter Kiss is safe on terra firma, having completed his skydive on Thursday, 24 March to help raise funds for Beckenham LTC
“They took us up to 12,000 feet in groups of four in a small-ish plane, which looked like a big washing machine,” said Peter. “The ride wasn’t as bumpy as I expected and apparently it took about 15-20 minutes to reach the jump altitude, although it felt much shorter.
“The jump was really good. To me the scariest moment was when we were at the door and the first five seconds after we got out of the plane. If you’ve never done it before you can’t prepare yourself for that moment.
“The free fall is quite crazy – we had a bit of hail in our face at the beginning – it’s like when you skiing full speed down on a black slope just two times faster. When my co-jumper instructor – funnily he was Hungarian – opened the parachute everything just went into complete calmness.
“We took couple of 360 turns and he let me to control the parachute. Up there everything felt calm and I was just enjoying the view. The landing went well and I’m happy for that because the airfield was covered in sheep poo!”
